   Nevada is a state located in the western United States. Nevada is best know for the city of Las Vegas. Nevada's nickname is "The Silver State" from the huge comstock lode of silver mined. On Oct 31, 1864, the Nevada Territory became the 36th state in the union. In 1931 the construction began on Hoover Dam east of Las Vegas. Thousands of workers had work now during the depression years. This caused a boom in population and helped legalized gaming. Today the state of Nevada produces 100 billion dollars of product a years, not all of it gaming. Nevada is also the home of Nellis Air Force Base, and spooky Area 51.
